Technically “root canal” is not the name of the procedure but refers instead simply to the natural cavity found in the center of the tooth. The pulp or pulp chamber is the soft area inside the root canal. The tooth’s nerve lies within the root canal. Occasionally, the internal soft tissue (or pulp) of the tooth becomes infected and can result in a serious infection if left untreated.
In fact, the procedure that laymen refer to as a “root canal” is actually known as a pulpectomy to dentists. A pulpectomy is an endodontic treatment to cure an infected root canal. In the old days, damage to the core of a tooth usually meant it had to be removed. Today, however, a “root canal” procedure (or pulpectomy) disinfects and refills the inside of the tooth, thus preventing pain and limiting damage to the tooth.

He knew exactly what I needed to hear, he said the things I needed him to say just to really let me know what was going on with the procedure as well as his experience and certain things that might come up because of the procedure. Also he was very calm and collected and he even met with me one weekend when I was kind of concerned about an issue that I noticed. Hi, I’m Alexander Sizak from Algonquin, Illinois. I’m one of those if it ain’t broke don’t fix it kind of guys. Well, sometimes teeth need fixing and I needed a filling, a crown replaced, and an implant. I haven’t been to a dentist for at least six years. Once again, if it ain’t broke… Well, I did some research online, I checked out multiple businesses – costs are really important to me as I don’t have any insurance but references and that old gut feeling played a major role in my final decision. As of right now I’m midway through the implant procedure. I’ve had a cleaning and x-rays, a filling and a crown replacement all in the last three months. So far, Dr. Khan and his staff; Paula, Lindsay, Jolene, Heidi – I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone; sorry if I did – have exceeded all expectations. Always friendly, always prepared, and most important to me – always professional. I appreciate the good explanation he provides for the dental procedures I have had done. The office staff at a doctor's office reflects so much about the practice in general. VERY GOOD. Great customer service, great staff and most importantly Dr. Khan makes the dental procedure seamless. I had an implant done. Price was reasonable and the implant was success. Also, their schedule is great, allowing for visits on Saturdays and after hours, which is great for people with fixed work schedule.
Dr. Khan installed a dental implant in my jaw a couple of months ago, and I am extremely happy with the work. The procedure was completely pain-free, and the healing process has been going very smoothly. Dr. Khan created a temporary crown to attach to the post while the implant mends with the jawbone, which looks very real, and has been non-intrusive in my daily routine. This has been a huge advantage, as many other practices use a dental flipper, which I expect would not preserve gum structure as well, look less natural, and become an annoyance since it sits within a retainer that must be worn, and has to be taken out to eat. In a month or so, I will get the final crown to replace the temporary I have been wearing, and with the high-quality of work done so far and attention to detail, I expect it will look just like a real tooth. Dr. Khan has also been very helpful and understanding with answering my (many) questions and concerns about the procedure and materials used. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Dr. Khan for his professional treatment and placement of permanent teeth in both my upper and lower jaw even though I had Implants done with other Dentist and not being perfect for Dr. Khan to perform. Over my 73 years on this earth I have had quite a few dentists, some of whom were very good and others who were poor to mediocre. Many times their staffs would prove to be the main reason for change. I have had three implants and one bridge completed by Dr Khan. He is prompt, gracious, highly competent and patient. My implants where difficult because of lack of bone. We kept working at it until success was achieved. His staff is friendly and helpful. Any problems after surgery he is reachable by cell phone. I have been to many dentists in my day and he is by far the best!
I initially came to Dr Khan for an implant because he was significantly cheaper than a specialist I had used in my town of Libertyville, IL. I found Dr. Khan was very competent and offered the service of doing both the implant and the crown, something in the past which had required me to visit 2 different doctors.
